Wheel of Life

Omeima Arts

Materials: 8 x silk in perspex panels and wooden frame on a wooden base
Silk tie-dyed and then designs screen-printed in layers. Devoré is the final process.
The white, ‘feathered’ area is where the Devoré has burned out the threads. This design is influenced by that part of the ear that allows sounds to vibrate and be ‘heard’, the cochlea. This shape repeats itself in my work and symbolises my deaf identity.
