Vote for your favourite collections object
Voting is now closed but you can still explore objects from the national collection of craft and help us uncover more incredible stories
Why and who do we collect? What should the national collection for craft be like in future?
We invited the public to get to know the national collection for craft as we rediscover it ourselves, through a three-year collections audit as part of our Craft for the People project.
Kicking off the audit and inspired by the trend for ‘unboxing’ videos, we asked you to vote for your favourite of ten objects. Everyone was given the opportunity to vote - children and adults alike - in this quick, fun way to learn more about craft.
Get curious about craft
Dafydd Powell Halls, one of our 2024 Young Craft Citizens, is working on the collections audit and selected the objects for the vote. From space-esque ceramics, spiky glass thingymajigs, a chair shaped like a goat, a cast of someone’s head and more, there’s a panoply of ideas and materials, new ways of making alongside ancient traditions. Our audit is about understanding and sharing the full richness of what’s in the collection.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote! The top three favorite objects, as chosen by you, were Flame by Dan Fisher, Seven-Course Tenor Lute by Stephen Gottlieb and Asentamiento Dress by Julie Cook.
