Making leather and making works from leather is a composition of precise, highly skilled crafts, many of which are critically endangered in the UK. The process is tactile, lending itself to an emotional connection with the materials origin informing the finished piece. Industrial methods, are uniform, alienating, monotonous, boring and environmentally damaging. Red sources locally, producing oak tan, tawed leather, parchment, velum and rawhide.
