Hybridity. Do not ask
Now held in the permanent collection of Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens, 'Hybridity. Do not ask' is a glass poem which explores the notion of 'othering' It details all the questions people ask that make me feel like I don't belong; that 'other me', beginning with 'do not ask me where I'm from'. The work invites the viewer to reflect on the notion of othering, not just in relation to race but more widely, and consider when they may have inadvertently othered someone or been othered themselves
